Viacom is a powerhouse in the entertainment industry known for its creativity and innovation. The company wanted its employees to feel that way by creating an internal initiative named “Spark”. The global multi-day event was designed to drive employee engagement with conference-style programming.
Cohesive created the Spark internal website that reached Viacom’s 10,000 domestic and international employees. The site was designed to connect the conversations across all of their offices and showcase the array of ideas being presented. It featured videos from internal speakers like Viacom’s CEO Bob Bakish and industry leaders like Spike Lee. Several videos were produced across Viacom’s main offices and delved into various topics. To help employees sort these videos, Cohesive created a filtering system that sorted videos by location, core themes, and topics.

Every interaction of the website was designed to incorporate the overarching theme of Spark, which was to equip, engage and inspire. In developing the website's functionality, we worked to incorporate motion to visually guide the user and create an experience that truly engages them. We were also able to measure the effectiveness of the content by incorporating like buttons below videos.

The website also featured a stream of social media posts from employees across different locations. We sourced images from the Spark2019 hashtag and fed them into the site, scrolling across the bottom. The feed helped shape the conversation of the Spark initiative.
